For people who have already read Leading The Way To Arnhem the tour will add an extra demension to the book. For others it'll give an insight into the battle of Oosterbeek and the defence of the 'Cauldron'.
Together with the author you'll retrace the footsteps of the Pathfinders and see where all the events as described in the book actually occurred.
Introduction and overview of the battle and explanation of history and background of the Independent Company.
Visit the dropping and landing zones and experience where the Pathinders laid out the marker panels and set up the Eureka systems.
You'll see where the Platoons dug in at their first defensive position in the Northern perimeter and learn about the circumstances of the so called 'Killing Ground Affair'.
Find out which houses the men of the 21st defended during the last 5 days of the battle and see where the street fighting around the Dressing Stations and the cross roads of Oosterbeek took place.
On each location you will receive information from firsthand accounts.
The tour starts at 10.00 hrs and finishes at about 15.00 hrs.
A lunch will be enjoyed at restaurant Schoonoord (former dressing station at cross roads Oosterbeek).
The tour can be combined with a visit to the Airborne Museum or the Cemetery.
